KUALA LUMPUR – PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli will file a police report against a PAS leader who said voters would “go to hell” if they voted for Barisan Nasional (BN) or Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the 15th general election (GE15).

Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reports Rafizi saying at a ceramah last night that he would file the report himself to show PAS leaders and members that religion should not be used for political purposes.

“We can’t just ignore people like this,” Rafizi was quoted as saying about Sik PAS Youth chief Shahiful Nasir who made the remark in a ceramah and who has since apologised.

Shahiful, an ustaz, had admitted that he said voting for PH or BN would send a voter “to hell”, and agreed that he was mistaken in saying this.

Rafizi, who said he would also file a complaint with the Election Commission (EC), said in his ceramah last night that PAS should prepare to hire a lawyer.

The PH candidate for Pandan said PAS should not use religion to force people to vote for them but instead should talk about how it can help voters and its goals for constituents, regardless of their ethnicity.

He also pointed out that in Sabah, PAS is supporting BN candidates and joked that this would mean the Islamist party members in that state would also “go to hell”, going by Shahiful’s logic.
